My Rating for Jung Won: (4.5/6)
It was my colleague's birhtday and we decided to celebrate at a Jung Won restaurant this time. It is situated at Jalan Ampang, somewhere behind Sayfol International School.
It is a nice restaurant with very quiet environment. A good place for group dinner.
Korean meals is usually served with Ban-Chan, free-of-charge Korean traditional side dishes that may be refilled. Banchan (hangul:반찬; hanja: 飯饌 also spelled panchan), refers to small side-dishes served along with cooked rice in Korean cuisine. The most famous banchan is kimchi. Banchan are served in small portions, meant to be finished at each meal. They can be replenished during the meal as they are finished.
Mixed Rice a.k.a. Bibimbap. The bibimbap was delightful. It's basically rice with lots of different vegetables and a raw egg. When you are served your bibimbap mix everything immediately. You end up with a mess of delicious vegetables, rice and eggy goodness. It tastes good enough this way but the waiter said it's a lot better if you mix in the provided spicy paste and he's right. After mixing it in the flavour of the dish was further enhanced.
Bul Gogi is one of Korea’s most popular beef dishes. It is made from thinly sliced sirloin or other prime cut of beef. The meat is marinated with a mixture of soy sauce, pear purée, sesame oil, black pepper, garlic, onions, wine and sugar. It is marinated for two to four hours to enhance the flavor and its tenderization.
The environment is superb. The place is spacious, quiet and cooling. It’s an open air restaurant. The food there is great as well because you can actually taste traditional Korean BBQ meal.
